I especially like this because of the misunderstood notion of “marketplace” in the Caribbean. Any painting that is done of the “market” is often interpreted by the critic as a cheap and easy sale for a tourist who is captivated by the colour and motion and life of the “natives”. This vision of the market in terms of sustaining life is a reflection of the serious observation by a young artist. Bravo!
